History

Little Big Butterfly started its life in 2010 by Clara Shield. After having worked for a number of years within the field of Youth and Community Arts, Clara took a leap of faith and created a company and brand that specialised in creating high quality creative projects and activities for Children, Young People and Adults based on the principles of Youth Work Practice. All of our projects and opportunities that are offered through Little Big Butterfly are participatory, educational, empowering and promote the equality of opportunity.

The inspiration behind the projects and training have come from a wealth of experiences from all of our team and associate artists working not only in the North East but wider UK and abroad. We pride ourselves in offering Children and Young People creative drama and film experiences that are delivered by talented and celebrated writers, directors and film makers who are working currently in the industry.

We always try to make our opportunities that little bit more exciting, so we are always thrilled when we get feedback like this;

"I was so impressed with this vibrant group of young women from such diverse backgrounds, working so positively and creatively together. They are funny, bright and passionate and with the help of Clara and her colleagues, have produced a lovely, thought-provoking little film with a big heart. What an invigorating and inspiring project. More more more”.  Charlie Hardwick (Actor)

It is important to us that excellent facilitation is adopted and modelled throughout our projects and beyond. Our training that we offer is aimed at both individuals and professionals, seeking to improve their skills and knowledge to enable all participants to excell in their personal development and professional practice.

“The training sessions were very well delivered, and very warm and kind”
